Design inspiration for both the home & the garden

The month of May for Gillian Gillies Interiors was the month of design inspiration for both the home and the garden. The combination of spring arriving in Toronto where you see Mother Nature burst forth with all that she’s been cultivating throughout winter, as well as having the opportunity to attend two beautiful design events, has had our creativity running on full speed.

Los Angeles – La Cienega Design Quarter

I was one of a handful of Canadian designers invited to attend Kravet’s Design Educational trip to Los Angeles in early May.

Kravet is a New York based, family run and owned, fabric, furniture and accessory distributor. They are celebrating their 100th year in business and four members of the Kravet family were with us on the trip.

We got insider access to some amazing artisan’s studios. My favourite has to be David Wiseman. He works in plaster, ceramic and bronze and makes the most beautiful ceiling canopies and sculptures. The owl had me at hello!
